Battery care
Choose a battery maintainer from the battery, not the plug.
Confirm voltage, chemistry, capacity, connection, storage temperature, and the charger's supported modes before use.
Direct answer
Choose a maintainer by battery voltage, chemistry, capacity, and storage temperature. The verified OptiMate TM523-8 supports 12 V AGM and gel batteries at 6.67 A, but every other model must be checked against its own record.

Know before you buy
- A maintainer does not restore a damaged, frozen, or failed battery.
- Confirm voltage, chemistry, capacity range, connection, and storage temperature from the model record.
- Only the TM523-8 values shown here have been verified for this page.
Common questions
Short answers, limits included.
Can I leave a maintainer connected all winter?
Only when the exact model supports long-term maintenance for that battery chemistry and the installation stays dry and protected.
Is a trickle charger the same as a smart maintainer?
No. A smart maintainer controls charge stages. A simple trickle charger may not manage long storage safely.
Can I use a 12 V maintainer on a 24 V bank?
Not across the full bank. Use equipment designed for the bank or follow an approved per-battery procedure.
Will a maintainer recover a dead battery?
Not necessarily. A failed, frozen, shorted, or deeply damaged battery needs testing and may require replacement.
